Facilities by ADF Driver Academy Training Programme 2025

Facilities by ADF is proud to launch another year of our Driver Academy Training Programme, providing employees with the opportunity to earn their HGV Class 1 qualifications. In 2025, six participants from across our business – including Base Operatives, Tech Drivers, Planning, and HOD teams – are taking part. Some will be progressing from a Class 2 license, while others will be starting their HGV training from a standard driving license.

The programme was open to all departments after completing a year of service, offering a fantastic opportunity for career progression and personal development. It reinforces our commitment to investing in our team and ensuring we have highly skilled professionals supporting our operations.

Participant Experiences

Amy Dick, a logistics coordinator currently undertaking the training, shared her experience:

“Last year, I had the chance to go on a base move with our drivers and lead teams. They were incredibly helpful, answering all my questions and giving me a real insight into how our operations work on the ground. That experience sparked my interest in obtaining my HGV license, and I was thrilled when ADF launched the Driver Academy. The programme has been fantastic so far, and I’m excited about the future, with hopes of becoming a swing driver once I qualify.”

Matt McGrath, who successfully completed the programme and is now a base swing driver, reflected on his journey:

“The Driver Academy was an incredible opportunity. I completed an intensive course and took my test shortly after. Now, with my Class 1 license, I’m much more adaptable within the business. Moving straight into a swing driver role on production, I’m learning something new every day in the HGV world. The support from the existing swing drivers has been invaluable, I can’t thank them enough for helping me settle into the role.”

Since launching the programme, two employees have now successfully completed their training, progressing into key operational roles within ADF.

About the Programme

The Driver Academy Training Programme is part of the HGV Skills Bootcamp, delivered by PDT Fleet Training. It equips employees with the knowledge, training, and qualifications needed to obtain an LGV Category C+E Licence. The course includes practical driving sessions, industry-specific training, and official testing, ensuring participants are fully prepared for their new roles.
