A Day in the Life: Wayne Green, Head of Business Development
Q1: Can you tell us what a typical week looks like for you?
Every week is different. Some days I’m leading on new quotes, others I’m visiting customers, networking, or following up on leads. I work closely with the account management team on securing new wins, while also supporting the senior management team with business strategy.
Q2: What makes ADF’s account management team unique in the facilities industry?
Our account managers act as a single point of contact for each production. This means one person from ADF oversees everything, keeping communication simple and streamlined – which works far better for the customer.
Q3: How do your account management processes, like weekly reporting, help productions?
It helps them stay on track budget-wise and forecast future spend. We also provide insights on sustainability, such as HVO fuel usage and power consumption, so productions can measure their environmental impact.
Q4: How do you and the account management team work with wider ADF teams?
We maintain constant communication with our base teams on the ground and feed updates back. We act as the central link, coordinating fleet, operations, and accounts to keep everything running smoothly – allowing wider teams to focus on their areas of expertise.
Q5: What do you enjoy most about working in this industry?
I really love the people. It’s one of the most creative, innovative, and resilient industries in the world. Over the last ten years, I’ve seen productions adapt to almost impossible challenges – from COVID to the strikes – yet they always find a way to keep moving. Every production is different, and there’s always a new challenge to solve which keeps it interesting!
Q6: How has the industry evolved over the years?
It’s become far more professional, with a stronger focus on compliance, sustainability, and inclusivity – areas where ADF is helping to set the standard.
Q7: Do you have a standout moment during your time at ADF?
It’s hard to pick just one. The real highlight is all the amazing people I’ve met and the variety of productions I’ve been involved with. It’s the full experience that makes it special.
Q8: What’s your favourite memory from a production?
Driving through the stage set of Bohemian Rhapsody – an unforgettable experience!
Q9: How do you measure the success of the sales team?
By the number of returning customers who trust us and new customers who put their faith in us. Our 88% world-leading Net Promoter Score reflects the service and relationships we deliver and I’m proud of that!
Q10: What advice would you give someone starting in the industry?
Relationships and customer service are everything. Be honest, genuine, and helpful – if people can see that, they’ll come back to you time and time again. The most successful work often goes unseen, but the productions that run seamlessly without fuss are the ones everyone remembers.
