Job Title: Sustainability Officer


Salary: Competitive Salary

Location: Longcross, Surrey

The Sustainability Manager is responsible for leading the improvement and delivery of sustainability performance. Communicating and supporting staff, external project teams and supply chain through the delivery of sustainability initiatives across the business.

  • Up to date knowledge of sustainability legislation and energy efficiency funding.
  • Represent the company in industry working groups.
  • Assess gaps in each area of the business and implement plans to address.
  • Ability to assess, manipulate and present large volumes of data to help progress the different projects across the group.
  • Experience of writing and presenting management information reports.
  • Ability to engage with customers and partners effectively.
  • Review government, local policy, industry guidance and commitments and where appropriate integrate into the company documentation.
  • Set and communicate targets in relation to carbon reduction/energy efficiency etc.
  • Collate and prepare evidence to support the performance metrics improvements to the board and feed into the Annual report.
  • Work in conjunction with the Human Resources department to deliver training to other business areas where appropriate.
  • Ability to challenge and influence through discussion and debate.
  • Attend sustainability meetings with clients and relevant manager to ensure the company can accommodate client requirements.
  • Create and maintain sustainability documentation and literature (e.g. Policy/Road Map).
  • Manage the Carbon Assessment process and initiate changes where required to improve carbon footprint. Work with relevant dept heads on collating data in order for future carbon audit (monthly basis).
  • Work with relevant dept heads, sustainability consultant, Landlord (e.g. Longcross), local authority on ways to improve carbon footprint and introduce new sustainability initiatives across the Group.
  • Work with relevant head of companies within PLC to form a Group strategy on sustainability including positioning, commitment and targets.
  • Work with marketing dept to create high-level material to promote sustainability initiatives to clients and investors.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to deliver multiple and complex projects working against fast moving project deadlines.
  • Demonstrates and communicates the value of sustainability objectives in conventional cost and value terms.
  • Good communication skills to articulate sustainability to a wide variety of stakeholders with varied understanding to ensure our business case and value is clearly presented e.g., Marketing brochures etc.
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams with the ability to quantify the impact of decisions from a cost and value perspective.
  • Strong professional network and networking skills.
  • Technical knowledge of HGV Fleet desirable.
  • Commercially aware – used to working to budgetary controls

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of ALBERT/BAFTA Sustainability targets and approaches to achieve them.
